Emily Popham, Violin   Download Bio (PDF)

     
Emily Popham was born in Dayton, Ohio and began violin studies in Louisville, Kentucky. She has been a featured soloist with the Louisville Orchestra, the Starling Chamber Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Indiana University and the Manhattan School of Music Symphony. Last year, she was awarded the 1st Balsam Prize for Duos with pianist Young-Kyung Hyun. As a chamber musician she has performed at the Prussia Cove International Musicians Seminar, Ravinia, Taos and Kneisel Hall Music Festivals and this past summer was a member of the Aspen Contemporary Ensemble. Emily completed degrees from Indiana University and the Julliard School. Most recently, she completed a Professional Studies Diploma at Manhattan School of Music, studying with Sylvia Rosenberg, and was honored with the Pablo Casals Award at graduation. Her previous teachers include Paul Kantor, Miriam Fried and Robert Mann. Emily performs regularly with Sejong Soloists and is on faculty at the Summertrios Music Festival in Pennsylvania.
